Saloons of The Old (and New) West

A mobile app that specializes in saloons, bars, and watering holes west of the Mississippi River. The app includes haunted saloons, bars, and the hotels they reside in, as well as ghost towns of the Old West.

I have always been fascinated with "The Old West." The cowboys, cattle drives, miners, the gold and silver rush, saloon girls, the High Plains, Rocky Mountains... A few years ago I was first inspired to write a book titled "Guide to the Saloons of Colorado," but given the times that we live in, with the mobility of our technology (my have we come a long ways in the past 100 years), I reckon that a mobile app would be a better way to share my fascination, and romanticization, of the historical and modern day Saloons.

The app contains bars west of the Mississippi River that fit the definition of a "Western style Saloon." The term is subjective, and does not include every sports bar or Irish pub. The type of bar that the app features is subjectively chosen but can be considered as "A place where the locals go to blow off steam after a hard day, or week, of work."

Users of the app are encouraged to submit their own Saloon discoveries to be considered.
And bar owners are encouraged to participate by providing information about their bar/saloon to ensure the accuracy of what is published in the app and to keep the info up to date.

I hope that the Saloons in this app make you want to walk up to the bar after a long day on the dusty trail and say "Whiskey."
